Role Overview

Specsavers Crosby is seeking a friendly and customer-focused Optical Assistant to join its growing retail team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous optical or customer service experience who enjoys working in a fast-paced retail environment and delivering exceptional customer care. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting customers throughout their in-store experience while helping maintain a welcoming and professional store environment.

Working as part of a collaborative team, you will combine strong communication skills with product knowledge and attention to detail to ensure customers receive outstanding service and support across both eyewear and hearing care services.

This role is ideal for a proactive and personable individual looking to develop their career within a well-established and supportive retail healthcare business.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver excellent customer service and create a welcoming store environment

• Support customers with appointments, eyewear enquiries, and product selection

• Assist with dispensing and general optical support tasks

• Maintain store presentation and support day-to-day retail operations

• Work collaboratively with the wider team to deliver a positive customer experience

• Support customers across eyecare and hearcare services where required

The Successful Applicant

Essential Skills & Experience

• Previous experience within a customer service or retail environment

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

• Friendly, professional, and customer-focused approach

• Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced team environment

• Organised and proactive working style

• Willingness to learn and develop within the optical industry

• Flexibility to work weekends as required

Technical & Platform Knowledge

• Basic optical knowledge or dispensing experience

• Retail and customer service systems

• Product and service support within optical environments

Desirable

• Previous experience as an Optical Advisor or Dispensing Assistant

• Experience working within optics or healthcare retail

• Knowledge of optical products and customer care processes
