Freelance Early Years Photographer

Location: Truro and surrounding areas

Contract: Freelance

Salary: £100 – £170 per day

Role Overview

Concept Photography Ltd is looking for confident, creative and personable freelance photographers to join their growing early years photography team. This role combines studio photography with relationship building, requiring someone who can confidently engage with young children, nursery staff and parents while delivering high-quality portrait photography.

Working across nurseries, pre-schools and playgroups, you will travel to locations with a fully provided mobile studio setup and capture natural, professional portraits in a fast-paced and rewarding environment.

Key Responsibilities

Photography & Studio Management

• Capture professional portraits of babies and young children within nursery environments

• Set up and manage a mobile photography studio using provided equipment

• Work both indoors and outdoors depending on location requirements

• Ensure lighting, composition and image quality remain consistent throughout shoots

Client Interaction & Communication

• Create a fun and engaging atmosphere for children during photography sessions

• Build positive relationships with nursery staff and parents

• Adapt confidently to different personalities and fast-moving environments

• Represent the Concept Photography brand professionally on location

Post-Production & File Management

• Cull, organise and back up image files after shoots

• Edit and process imagery using Lightroom and Photoshop

• Deliver completed files to head office within agreed timelines

Travel & Scheduling

• Travel to nursery locations across the region

• Manage early starts and scheduled shoot days efficiently

• Work flexibly during peak seasonal periods

The Successful Applicant

Essential:

• Experience in studio or family photography

• Confident using DSLR or mirrorless cameras

• Experience with studio lighting and portrait composition

• Proficiency in Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop

• Full UK driving licence and access to a reliable vehicle

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

• Comfortable working with babies and young children

Preferred:

• Experience photographing children or families

• Enhanced DBS certificate

• Ability to work independently and manage schedules effectively
